Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What do I need to play the game?
A: To play each player must have a starter set, which is called Cities of Doom. For the first expansion, Wilds of Doom, only one box is needed for two players. Doom Cubes, the second and last expansion, goes crazy. You can bring up to 25 dice from Doom Cubes to the game. Each box has 8 dice. But there are over a hundred different dice in Doom Cubes.

Q: What dice come in the game?
A: The Starters are nearly all identical. There are 3 dice (out of 32) that are different. One, the Identity die, doesn't matter. It's just a counter, so different colors and symbols are meaningless. The other two, the Random Action dice, come in 4 different colors and 4 different types. However, unless you play with the Doom Cubes expansion, the different colors don't matter either. And since you can only have 1 of each Random Action die, all you really need are 1 of each of the 4 types. All the Wilds of Doom are exactly the same, so getting more than one is just a waste. Every Doom Cube box has a completely different set of dice. Note from my website that there are five different categories of rarity. Four are by rarity. In each Doom Cube box there are 4 commons, 3 uncommons, and 1 rare. Sometimes an uncommon will be a "Special" instead. The Special Improvised Weapon is quite common among the specials. The other specials seem to be about the same rarity, i.e. quite rare. Also, sometimes the special is a Gold, Bronze, or Silver Identity die. I've never seen a ultra-rare out of over a hundred boxes, so I'm not really sure they exist.

Q: How can you tell the color types?
A: The Doom Cube commons are all opaque, one solid color for the background. The uncommons are all pearled with one color for the background, but it's all shiny with silvery sparkles in it. The rares are all marbled with one main color with white swirls thru it. As for the colors, the only problem is telling the orange from the gold dice. It's hard to describe the difference, but if you have enough side by side, the difference becomes clear. For now, the best way to tell them appart is by their faces.

Q: What are the misprints? A: Misprints are dice that are not on the list that I.C.E put out. Note that there are two types of misprints. The normal misprints are playable and are only misprints because they are the wrong color. Look closely, and you'll see that all the playable misprints have the exact same faces as another die in a completely different color. Not only that, but it's fairly obvious that I.C.E. meant to have exactly 4 different types for each common and uncommon color. What they had in mind for the rares, is anyone's guess. :)
The unplayable misprints are just that, unplayable. It seems that a few were made that instead of the icons for a normal Doom Cube die, instead a icon from a Starter Landscape die was used. In most cases the mistake is simple, for example, a Plains (1) icon was used instead of a Safe Plains icon.
