Only three of us showed up. We managed to play 3 Battlefest games in 3 hours. First game was the shortest of all, only 40 minutes. Chuck won all three, each time with a slightly different army. Path to victory was the key to all 3 games.

The No Magic variation game ended up with surprisingly little melee. There was a lot of missile. Ed took the first game with a little luck from his Firewalkers as they jumped to a seventh face to take it. Chuck won the second game by scaring everyone off with the 4 Searers in the army. The Dragonne Knights also rolled well. Not so surprising was how fast the games went. The first game with 5 players was about 1.5 hours. The second game with 4 players was just 50 minutes, even though the highest initial terrain roll was a 4.

The all Death armies brought two all Frostwing armies, one Frostwing & Undead army, one Frostwing and Lava Elf army, and one Undead and Goblin army. Surprise, no Swampstalkers. Jim watched 2 of his three Dracoliches get taken out by Lightning. He then lost all his six Ghosts to Dragons. There were way too many Black Dragons. Nan was the first to face down six Black dragons at once. Even with an eighth face, her army was wiped out. If Chuck had any access to Gold Magic (he had the Lava Elves and Frostwings), he would have pathed to the now abandoned terrain at 7 and won. Next Chuck faced down and lost to five Black Dragons. He pulled back to reserves to rebuild, but Ed was burying as fast as he could. Then both Ed and Lee pushed the terrains they were at up to 8. Ed lost a chance to win when he rolled his Frostwings (all heavy and cavalry) at a Highland Standing Stones, and failed to get any IDs. All he needed was 4 points to path to one of three terrains that was at 7, but also with 2 Black dragons. Lee pulled some into reserves to try and take an eighth the hard way. Meanwhile Ed tried again to get 4 points of magic but failed (the Dancing Lights was overkill in this case). Lee pulled into a terrain, and was nearly wiped out by the 2 Black dragons, lost 12 health out of 15. But the rare unit that was left was all he needed to get his second eighth.

No Mages had some nasty melees like you would expect. We played two 5 player games. The first game came down to five people at eighth faces trying to cast magic with only IDs. Finally one of the players that had most of his units dead got destroyed by 3 Dragons, and suddenly there was an empty terrain at 7. Pat tried to cast enough magic to Path, only got 3. Ed mustered the 4 points needed and won. The second game had some terrains start off at high numbers. After some charges that left both armies destroyed, Jim took control and won the game.

Monster Madness was it's usual slugfest. We had a 7 player game. And we played with SAIs that are not seen too often. Watch out for Genies and their Galeforce! Dragons made all the difference in the game. Four players converged on a terrain looking for a 8th. Six Blue Dragons said, "No Way". Of the four armies, only one sadly decimated army retreated. The other three were destroyed. As time was running out, only four players were left. (Yes, three were totally destroyed.) With three at eighth faces, magic ruled the day. Lightning strikes and dragons kept falling out of the skies. Game went to Chuck as the most health still in play.
